Final Friday started as First Friday and has had various hosts and venues over the decades. For many years before her death, Molly Ivins hosted the once-a-month party at her home.

We rarely get candidates here in Wichita Falls so it was a delight to hear his ideas ans see his enthusiasm. Thanks to all members who made this great presentation.

Block Walkers in Action

Many volunteers engage in Block Walking. Teams of two (one driver, one canvasser) receive a list of names and addresses to visit and talk about politicians, both local and state wide, and their top issues. At times, they even register people to vote. Jan Herzog, wrote about block walking: “Blockwalking was a pleasure in this coolish weather, with a sprinkle of rain! The crepe myrtles and other flowers were fragrant, and the people were friendly. One lady said she normally voted R, but as I talked about Wendy and Leticia, she said she would definitely consider voting for them. Don’t hesitate to talk to people about them and our other candidates!”

Immigrant Supplies

With so many children immigrating to the United States, they need personal supplies to have a decent form of life here in Texas. On July 22, 2014, about 20 members of our group packed 100 boxes for both boys and girls. These boxes had articles for personal hygiene and other items. The boxes were then picked up by Catholic Charities and distributed to those in need.
